La Jolla Country Day School Students Cindy Berman and Nikki Fig join with non-profit organization Project Concern International (http://www.projectconcern.org) to launch a fundraising and educational campaign.
In Guatemala’s rural highlands, most families live in dire poverty and have very few opportunities.
The Amigos Para Siempre campaign provides microcredit loans to women coffee farmers in Oolpa, Guatemala.
The loans help the women buy coffee growing supplies & create or expand their coffee businesses.
When the loans are paid back (the payback rate is 99.8%), the money is given to another woman in need.
In other words, each loan that one individual gives ultimately lifts many women and their children out of poverty. To donate to the campaign and help raise entire families out of poverty visit: www.pci.kintera.org/amigos
Through this blog, we will keep track of the progress of the campaign, as well as our thoughts and various offline fundraisers.
